Quickstart

From database to live API and MCP in 60 seconds

Four steps, no code. Connect a database, get short secure endpoints for every table, and give AI agents access to exactly the tables you choose.

  • SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Credentials kept server-side
  • Table-scoped TinyURLs
  • Works with Claude Desktop and Cursor

Step 1: Connect SQL Server or PostgreSQL

Enter host, port, user and password once. They are stored server-side, so credentials never appear in any endpoint URL.

Step 2: Schema reflection and 8-character TinyURLs

InstantAPI reads your schema and gives each table a short link for GET, POST, PUT and DELETE. The link does not reveal database or table names.

bash
curl "https://api.instantapi.app/api/s/{short_code}/rows?limit=10"

Step 3: Connect Claude Desktop or Cursor via table-scoped MCP

Add the MCP link to your client config. The agent can only reach the table that link authorizes.

mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "instantapi": {
      "url": "https://api.instantapi.app/api/s/{short_code}/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Step 4: Call it from any app

Use the same TinyURL from JavaScript, Python, Zapier, n8n or Postman.

javascript
const res = await fetch("https://api.instantapi.app/api/s/{short_code}/rows");
const rows = await res.json();

Which databases are supported?
Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
